HERE IS OUR
SHORT ANSWER
Floating is a safe and simple self-care practice of unplugging & retreating from the constant noise & distractions of life while you float effortlessly on your back in perfectly heated & very salty water inside of a float tank (aka float pod or float cabin).
It is most commonly called "floating" because of the perfect buoyancy created by the super salty water, which allows every body on this planet (big or small) to experience the wonderful sensation of weightlessness. You will be floating without any physical effort on your part because your whole body will be effortlessly supported by our perfectly heated water filled with 1200 LBS of dissolved Epsom salt.
Put very bluntly... floating is one of the most potent + laziest ways to profoundly uplift and reset your overall wellbeing, as you are basically doing nothing whatsoever in complete peace & quiet for just over an hour.

Float tanks are a powerful self-care tool that makes it extremely easy for anybody to "unplug" for just over an hour and take a complete break from everything that we constantly hear, see, touch and feel - this is why it is also called by it's alternate name:
SENSORY DEPRIVATION
When your body is floating effortlessly in space without any distractions & stimulation from your surrounding environment, the float tank becomes your realiable + effective shortcut into extremely deep states of REST, meditation, prayer, healing & understanding, and regular floating can easily and effectively uplift your wellbeing and spirit.

WHY IS
FLOATING
ALSO CALLED
SENSORY
DEPRIVATION?
Take a moment and really think about how much you see, hear and touch all day long... you are constantly sensing and "feeling" everything in your surroundings in every moment of your life.
We are constantly being stimulated by something that we are seeing, hearing or touching. Even while we are asleep, the body is always aware of the force of gravity.
A float tank is the best tool on earth that is strictly designed to intentionally restrict and eliminate all sensory information & distractions from our direct experience for therapeutic purposes.
It is lightproofed so that our eyes no longer see (you have the choice to keep lights on). It is also soundproofed so that our ears no longer hear. The water is perfectly heated to the same temperature as your body so that you lose all sensation of touch, of where the body starts and ends. The water is also filled with so much salt that you no longer need to do anything to stay afloat, as you will be completely weightless and suspended in space.
By restricting the constant flow of sensory information (sights, sounds, touch, forces of gravity) that needs to be continously processed, our nervous system, body, minds & souls get a chance to completely rest, relax, reset and recharge.

FAMOUS FLOATERS
Here are some familiar faces that leverage
the supportive power of floating to perform at their best.

FLOATING = R.E.S.T.
Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy
This ↑ is the official technical term for floating and sensory deprivation, which just happens to be perfectly abbreviated as R.E.S.T. considering that deep states of REST is almost always felt during a float.
HISTORY OF FLOATING
The original concept of floatation therapy was developed by Dr John C. Lilly in 1950 while working at the National Institute of Mental Health in California. Lee & Glen Perry worked with Dr John C. Lilly and were invovled in the early research & development of float therapy, and they are responsible for creating the initial version of the modern day float tank (they're manufacturing company is called Samadhi).

Dr. John C. Lilly - Inventor of Floating
Between now and the 1950s, there were various pockets of time around the world when float tanks surged in popularity, but it wasnt until the early 2000s when floating really took off in popularity worldwide and became a mainstream self-care practice.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
The funny thing about floating is that you are basically doing NOTHING at all...
Imagine being perfectly suspended in space - feeling like the pressure & presence of gravity simply does not exist anymore. This trick is accomplished by water less than a foot deep so perfectly salty that it eliminates any need to hold your head above water or keep your body supported in any way. You can just let go of any holding patterns, tensions and pains.
No matter how big or small you are, you are going to float effortlessly as nearly 40% of the water volume is dissolved Epsom salts (equal to 2,160 cups of salt). Your first float experience includes a complimentary orientation that will cover all the information you will need to know. Everything you need for the float will be provided by us, so you do not need to bring anything (not even a bathing suit). The reason why more & more people are doing nothing during a float is answered by scrolling to the bottom of this page.
